当杂物电梯发生故障时应采取下列措施:
立即切断电梯的供电电源。这可以通过设置在机房（机罩）、控制箱、操作面板或井道内的各急停开关和空气开关实现。在断开电源之前，最好先观察记下显示器显示的状态，以方便查找故障。
报告有关部门领导。采取有关处理措施。
手动盘车。必须在断电情况下进行，用抱闸板手松开抱闸，盘动电动机尾部的手轮，使轿厢脱离故障区。
开层门检修：如果开层门检修，轿厢又不在本层，需用三角钥匙以打开层门机械锁。检修完毕，立刻关闭层门，拔下三角钥匙。
手动上、下行。先把自动/检修开关拨向检修，然后再合闸通电，按动上、下行按钮，可点动轿厢上、下行。
排除井道中故障。包括：导轨、导靴、开门刀、门轮、厅门、轿门、钢绳、缓冲器、抱闸、各种电器支架等。
排除控制系统故障。保括：门联锁开关、极限开关、安全限速开关、按钮、显示器、电动机、抱闸线圈、控制器等。
故障排除后，必须重新送电，方可正常运行。
