在使用前，应检查门电锁是否失效，及厅外命令登记的执行是否正确。轿厢内的照明设备须有适当亮度，电梯在使用时间须将照明设备开亮。不准用任何杂物塞住门联锁和门电锁开关，使之失效与经常接通。在轿顶上除检修人员在检修时除外，一律不得放置其它物件。载荷应尽可能稳妥地安放在轿厢中间，并应避免运行中物件的倾倒。
当电梯发生如下故障时应停止使用，并及时通知维修人员：当发现电梯的厅门没有闭合，登记厅外指令按钮时电梯不能起动。当轿厢在正常负荷下如有超越端站工作位置，而继续运行直至极限开关打开后才行停止时。当接触到电梯的任何金属部分时，如有触电现象时。当发现电气部件的绝缘，因过热而发生焦热时的臭味时。厅门关闭后，按其选层按钮，但电梯未能正常起动时。当轿厢在运行时，如发现有异常的噪声、振动、冲击等。
